Meet Captain Chuck "Chill" Hill – Expert Maryland & Chesapeake Bay Fishing Guide

I was born and raised in Middle River, MD, and spent every summer since age six at my grandparents’ waterfront property, relentlessly fishing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Starting out small, I would row a boat for miles in search of different fish species. Learning to use a seine net on my own as a young kid, I developed exceptional casting skills, often hitting a dock pole consistently from over 20 yards away.

In 1989, I was hired by the Maryland State Police as a Cadet and graduated from the Maryland State Police Academy in December 1990. After completing mandatory field training, I was assigned to Troop H (Baltimore County), where I served for over 23 years. During my tenure, I led the Golden Ring Barracks in drunk driving arrests for six and a half consecutive years and finished in the top three for criminal arrests. This earned me the title of Trooper of the Year in 1993, along with numerous other accolades, including nominations for Agency Trooper of the Year and State of Maryland Most Valuable Employee. I retired as a Sergeant in 2012.

On one trip, a father and son wanted to stop after catching 50 fish, but I encouraged them to aim for 60, resulting in laughter and a memorable experience.
